The Programming Track

Since you must always make sure that a locomotive is alone on the track when you are going to program it, the Central Station was designed to include the use of a programming track.

The programming track is a section of track that can be integrated into a layout, but it must not have any electrical contact with the layout. There must also be no contact between the programming track and special track section such as contact tracks or grade crossing tracks.

In order to ensure this separation, you must make sure when doing a programming procedure that there are no cars in the area of the point of separation between the programming track and the rest of the layout.

The Central Station has a dedicated connection for the programming track. It sends the data for programming locomotives only to this connection. This allows you to continue normal operations on the layout while you are programming a locomotive on the programming track.
