CV Access
With programmable decoders the characteristics are defined by Configuration Variables (CV or Register). All data pertaining to a locomotive's behavior are stored in these registers. The meaning of individual registers depends on the manufacturer and the decoder. Changes in the registers can have far-reaching effects, right up to the locomotive becoming unusable. Changes are written immediately in the decoder – there is no function to go back to the previous settings (undo.
The settings in the registers should only be done by experienced users taking into account the instructions for the locomotive or decoder.
Note: We recommend that you make a backup copy of the decoder settings before making changes to the CVs. To do this you can simply generate a locomotive card for the locomotive, on which all of the settings are stored and that you can then write back to the locomotive later on.
After the desired CV (register) and the desired index has been selected with the "+/-" buttons, you can then read out the corresponding setting from the locomotive with the button . If this setting is to be changed, a correspondingly corrected value can be set with "write", and this value is then programmed into the locomotive with the button .
